About Syandra

Michael Masani PortraitHello. My name is Michael Masani and I am the founder and principal of Syandra Health Centre. Over the past 25 years I have been helping people improve their emotional and mental health through a range of constantly updating skill-sets and services, including:

  • Individual therapy
  • Meditation courses
  • Meditation drop-in evenings
  • Guided meditation CDs
  • Monthly e-newsletters

My practice is endorsed by numerous GPs, health professionals, psychologists and psychiatrists.

My approach is based on the principle that all healing comes from within us; that healing and growth are intrinsic to our very nature. My role is to provide the therapeutic environment that will nurture and promote healing. There are no religious affiliations involved with any of my services.

My background and training; how I came to be here

I first learned to meditate at the age of 33. At that time I was finance director of a multi-national property development company, based in Sydney.  I was overpaid and overly stressed! By happy chance I came upon Walter and Gita Bellin who were teaching a meditation class in my locality. Such chance meetings can change one’s life immeasurably.

I went on to learn many different forms of meditation from both eastern and western backgrounds, giving me a broad and comprehensive knowledge of the art of meditation and of the variety of techniques and practices we can all use to raise our awareness, lower our stress, and increase our happiness.

I left my job in Sydney and began teaching meditation in Canberra in 1987. In the intervening 27 plus years I have taught meditation to literally thousands of people. It is work that brings me deep satisfaction; work that I love.

At the same time as moving to Canberra I gained a diploma in hypnotherapy under the tutelage of the much respected Eugene Veshner. Then in his 90’s Eugene was still a remarkably energetic and passionate master craftsman. Three years later I trained under Frank Wright and Greg Brice to become a  Private Subconscious-mind Healing (P.S.H.) therapist. Frank Wright appeared on ‘The Midday Show’, talking about PSH and his book ‘Emotional Healing’. That section of the show attracted more viewer responses than any previous program to that date, showing the enormous interest in this form of therapy.

Over many years I have developed and refined my therapy practice in Canberra, specializing in meditation and PSH therapy. The results are amazingly positive, even in cases of severe anxiety. I am presently co-writing a book that details a remarkable recovery of a client after 20 years of major depression.

I am a clinical member of The Australian Hypnotherapists Association, (AHA), The Australasian Subconscious-mind Therapists' Association (ASTA) and The Australian Teachers of Meditation Association (ATMA).

I live in Canberra’s western outskirts with my wife, Deb and our two cats. For relaxation I enjoy bush walking, going to the theatre, gardening, reading and watching cricket.

I am preently taking three momths sabtical to finish writing a book.
